Crocheron Park to Host Free Movie Screenings in August

"Big Miracle" and "Journey 2: The Mysterious Island" will screen, respectively, on the next two Tuesdays.

Northeast Queens parents and their children will be able to watch free movies at Crocheron Park on the final two Tuesdays of August.

The Aug. 20 screening will be “Big Miracle,” which stars John Krasinski and Drew Barrymore and follows the story of a reporter and his Greenpeace volunteer girlfriend who attempt to save a family of whales in the Arctic Circle.

On Aug. 27, the park will screen “Journey 2: The Mysterious Island,” which stars Dwayne Johnson and Michael Caine.

The screenings, which are free, begin at 8 p.m. Attendees are recommended to bring a chair and blanket.

Films will be shown at the park, located at 35th Avenue and the Cross Island Parkway, near Golden Pond.

Other free movie screenings this month include Councilman Mark Weprin’s Cunningham Park series.

Upcoming films include “Les Miserables” on Aug. 22 and “Kinky Boots” on Aug. 29.

Those screenings all take place at 8 p.m. near the park’s bocce courts.
