1. Police arrest Councilman Dan Halloran, R-Whitestone, state Sen. Malcolm Smith, D-Jamaica, and Queens Republican Party Vice Chairman Vince Tabone for their alleged role in a bribery scheme to rig the mayoral election by getting Smith on the GOP ballot.
2. Four Little Neck residents are accused of operating a massive counterfeit accessories ring. The federal government moved in December to seize six properties owned by the residents.
3. A Bayside man was sentenced to prison for his role in a large-scale identity theft ring that caused more than $400,000 in financial losses.
4. A Nassau County woman was arrested after she allegedly drove drunk and crashed into a tractor trailer, claiming the life of a 21-year-old Bayside woman.
5. A Bayside man was arrested after he allegedly took his girlfriend hostage and refused to surrender to police.
