Great Escape: Free Fitness Walks
Bayside's Fort Totten Hosts Walks Along Michael's Mile on Tuesdays and Thursdays
Northeast Queens residents looking to lose weight without spending money should step out and join the free fitness walk hosted every Tuesday and Thursday by the city's Parks Department at Fort Totten.
At 9 a.m., walkers begin winding their way along an esplanade between Fort Totten and the Bayside Marina that is known as Michael’s Mile.
Attendees can take part in a variety of exercise activities, such as lunges, arm pick-ups, squats and other toning exercises.

Each walk begins with a five-minute warm up and ends with a five-minute cool down to ensure that attendees are using proper stretching techniques.
The walks and warm ups are guided by a volunteer personal trainer from a certified personal fitness consulting institution. Participants are asked to meet by the Fort Totten front gate, located on Totten Road and the Cross Island Parkway in Bayside.
No experience is necessary and all fitness levels are welcome, so put on your most comfortable pair of shoes, join the group and walk your way to a healthier you.
