Yvette Lingerie's Diana Someck Touts 25 Years on Bell Boulevard

More than two decades ago, Diana Someck expanded Yvette Lingerie after having taken over the shop from its previous owners.

Now, in the midst of a renovation to the building's interior, Someck sat down with Patch to discuss how the store has grown over the years.

How long has Yvette Lingerie been located on Bell Boulevard and how has it grown over the years?

I’ve been here for more than 25 years. The original store, which had different owners, was much smaller and had only a few undergarments. We took over and expanded it. It was literally about half the size it is now and was a small operation. When I came in, I added the medical garments – we do mastectomy fittings. We service ladies now from the very young to the very mature. We handle all sizes and shapes.

What are some of the products Yvette offers?

It’s more for servicing women than anything else. We make alterations right on the premises. We have many different undergarments, from bras and corsets to girdles, longline bras and bustiers - anything a woman needs in all her stages in life, we have. What we don’t have, we either get or make.

What are some of the store's most popular items or services?

I could dress a lady to go to lunch or a casual date or wedding or party. Then, I could dress her to go to bed. I get people who come in for undergarments and clothes. I’ve got people who come in for prosthetic fittings. 

How is Yvette Lingerie unique to Bell Boulevard?

We have all sorts of corsetieres that other shops don’t have. We’re a service industry and we take care of whatever the ladies needs are, whether it’s alterations or finding a garment that best suits her.

What's your price range?

Items can range from $25 to $100 or $120. If we need to get a more expensive garment, we can get that too.

What about your business makes you most proud?

We aim to please. And making a woman happy makes us proud of what we do.
