School's Out for Summer

Summer school will begin on July 8.

The city’s public schools are letting students out for summer vacation today.

On June 27, the city Department of Education’s summer meals program kicks off, offering free breakfasts and lunches for students at more than 1,000 locales through Aug. 30.

And summer school begins on July 8.

But while school may be out for students and faculty, Community District Education Council 26 will continue to meet this summer.

The council will introduce new officers and discuss budgetary issues during its July 25 meeting in the teacher’s lounge of P.S. 173, located at 174-10 67th Ave. in Fresh Meadows.

The 2013-2014 school year will begin on Sept. 9.
