2013 Northeast Queens Primary Voters Guide

Here's a primer to get you all the information you need to know in Bayside, Douglaston, Little Neck for the Sept. 10 primary election.

The only local race is for Councilman Dan Halloran's seat. The five Democrats on Tuesday's ballot will be former state Assemblyman John Duane, former Halloran chief of staff Chrissy Voskerichian, attorney Paul Vallone, community activist Paul Graziano and Austin Shafran, formerly of Empire State Development.

The winner of the primary will face off against attorney Dennis Saffran, a Republican, in November.

Four Democrats will face off in the Queens borough president primary, including former state Assemblywoman Melinda Katz, Councilman Peter Vallone and Everly Brown. State Sen. Tony Avella recently announced that he was dropping out of the race, but his name still appears on the ballot.

The mayoral race includes a long list of Democrats: City Council Speaker Christine Quinn, Public Advocate Bill de Blasio, former Comptroller Bill Thompson, Comptroller John Liu, former U.S. Rep. Anthony Weiner, former Councilman Sal Albanese, Pastor Erick Salgado, comedian Randy Credico and Neil Vincent Grimaldi.

On the Republican ballot, there's former MTA Chairman Joe Lhota, George McDonald and Joe Catsimatidis.

Candidates on the ballot for public advocate include Catherine Guerriero, Councilwoman Letitia James, Deputy Public Advocate Reshma Saujani, state Sen. Daniel Squadron and Sidique Wai.

And city comptroller candidates include former Gov. Eliot Spitzer and Manhattan Borough President Scott Stringer.
