Hair, Nail Salon Debuts in Douglaston Village

Evergreen Nail Salon opens in former Queens Spa site on 235th Street.

The owner of a new salon in Douglaston Village said she aims to be a one-stop shop for nails, hair and massages.

Two months ago, Fay Zheng opened Evergreen Nail Salon, located at 42-36 235th St. in Douglaston, in the former Queens Spa site.

With the exception of that previous salon’s hair stylist, Evergreen’s staff and operation is brand new.

“Douglaston is a very good location,” said Zheng, who lives in Queens. “I had a salon in Westchester County, but I sold it to move here.”

The new salon will offer everything from haircuts and hair styling to manicures, pedicures, hair coloring, waxing and massages.

“It’s a hair and nail salon,” Zheng said. “Most places just offer one, but we have both here. It’s very convenient to get everything done in one spot, so you don’t have to go to different places.”

She said she has been attracting members of the local community by word of mouth.

“People have mentioned they are glad we have a new staff,” she said. “The quality of the work before at the previous salon wasn’t as good. So, we want to let the community know it’s being led by new management.”

Evergreen accepts both walk-ins and appointments. The salon is open from 9:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday through Saturday and 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday.

Men’s haircuts cost $14 – or $16 with shampoo and styling – and women’s haircuts are $18 – or $25 with shampoo and styling. Children’s haircuts cost $10.

Other services offered include perms ($60), Japanese straightening ($150), hot oil treatment ($40), Brazilian Keratin ($160), single process coloring ($45-55) and highlights ($60-70).

Manicures and pedicures are $20 only on Monday through Wednesday.
