Fall Festival, Lou Gramm and Joan Rivers

A guide to weekend happenings in the area.

Making weekend plans? Here are some highlights to consider:

The Long Island Fall Festival runs Friday-Monday at Heckscher Park in Huntington. Coinciding with Columbus Day weekend, the festival brings tens of thousands of people to Huntington's Heckscher Park over four days. This year, pop singer Taylor Dayne tops the musical lineup. Other highlights include a carnival, food court, music and more. Get the schedule

At Queens County Farm, October weekends bring a market filled with Hudson Valley apples, donuts, fresh cider and apple pie, from 11 a.m.- 4 p.m. Entry to the market is free. Weekends through Oct. 27, and Monday Oct. 14, you’ll find the “Amazing Maize Maze, 11 a.m.-4:30 p.m. (the time of last ticket sale – adults, $9; children ages 4-11, $5; children 3 and under, free). The maize is open till 9 p.m. Oct. 12.  The farm also features a pumpkin patch on weekends, and on Oct. 27, a children’s fall festival complete with pony rides. 73-50 Little Neck Parkway, Glen Oak.

At Landmark on Main Street in Port Washington this weekend: Lou Gramm: The Voice of Foreigner, Friday at 8 p.m., and Sweet Honey in The Rock, Saturday, 8 p.m. Learn more

At the Tilles Center in Greenvale, Banjo Summit with a gathering of 5-string masters featuring Béla Fleck, Friday at 8 p.m. On Saturday, a Benny Goodman 75th Anniversary Tribute, featuring jazz clarinetist Ken Peplowski, Bucky Pizzarelli, Derek Smith and the Capitol Center Jazz Orchestra.
