Screening of Yo-Yo Ma Concert, CB 11 Meeting Highlight Week Ahead in Northeast Queens

Monday

Community Board 11 will hold its first meeting of 2014 at 7:30 p.m. at M.S. 158, located at 46-35 Oceania St. in Bayside. The board will hear a presentation by the city's Fire Department as well as another on composting. 

The Douglaston Little Neck Library, located at 249-01 Northern Blvd., will offer its knitting and crocheting club at 4 p.m. Attendees should bring their own yarn and needles.

Saturday

The Bayside Library, located at 214-20 Northern Blvd., will present the New York Philharmonic Gala with Yo-Yo Ma through a new high definition screening series at 2:30 p.m. It will include a pre-show workshop.

Flushing's Church on the Hill, located at 167-07 35th Ave., will hold an auction at 9 a.m. Items include artwork, jewelry, clocks, collectibles, antiques, furs, sports memorabilia, household items, linens and new and vintage items. The event is free and there will be door prizes and refreshments.

Sunday

The Samuel Field Y will host a family caregiver breakfast from 10 a.m. to noon. The event, which is aimed at persons who take care of a loved one with health problems, will include a workshop with a panel of local experts who will address a variety of issues. It will be held at Young Israel of Queens Valley, located at 141-55 77th Ave. in Kew Gardens Hills.
