James Darren Performance, Harvest Fest Highlight Week in Northeast Queens

Tuesday

Benjamin N. Cardozo High School, located at 57-00 223rd St., will host its annual college night at 7 p.m. Representatives from more than 160 universities and colleges will be in attendance.

Thursday

The Bayside Business Association, Bayside Kiwanis and Bayside Historical Society will host "A Day at the Races" at the Belmont Racetrack's Turf and Field Club. The event, which honors former state Sen. Frank Padavan, will cost $75 per person and include a lunch buffet and nine races.

The Department of Education will hold an open house for District 25 middle schools at J.H.S. 185, located at 147-26 25th Drive in Flushing, at 5:30 p.m.
 
Saturday

James Darren and comedian Sal Richards will perform at 8 p.m. at Queensborough Community College's performing arts center, located at 222-05 56th Ave. in Bayside. Darren, a former teen idol who appeared on "T.J. Hooker" and "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine," will perform big band and swing tunes.

Sunday

The Queens Botanical Garden, located at 43-50 Main St., will hold a harvest festival and pumpkin patch from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Activities include music, garden walks, games, face painting, a petting zoo, pony rides, food and craft vendors.

There will be a play reading of an original drama, "Resistance" by Lawrence F. Bloom, at 2 p.m. at the Bay Terrace Jewish Center, located at 13-00 209th St.

And the American Cancer Society's annual Making Strides walk at 10 a.m. in Flushing Meadows Corona Park. Registration begins at 8 a.m.
