Chanukah, Christmas Events Highlight Week Ahead in Northeast Queens

Monday

Community Board 11 will hold its monthly meeting at 7:30 p.m. at M.S. 158, located at 46-35 Oceania St. in Bayside. Topics of discussion will include a variance for an auto body shop and services for local seniors.

Friday

The Douglaston Volunteer Committee of the Visiting Nurse Service of New York is holding a fundraiser luncheon at 11 a.m. at North Hills Golf and CC in Manhasset. Money raised during the event will go toward the service's early headstart program in Far Rockaway.

The Oakland Little Neck Jewish Center, located at 49-10 Little Neck Parkway, will host an A Capella Musical Kabbalat Shabbat at 5:30 p.m. It will include drinks, hors d'oeuvres, singing and dancing.

The Queens Chamber of Commerce and Verizon will hold a talk on how to amplify your business through mobile technology. The event will take place at 8 p.m. at the Bulova Center, located at 75-20 Astoria Blvd. in Jackson Heights.

Saturday

American Martyrs Church, located at 79-43 Bell Blvd. in Bayside, will hold its fifth annual Christmas fair. The event, which begins at 9 a.m., is free.

Oakland Little Neck Jewish Center, located at 49-10 Little Neck Parkway, will host a dinner theater event at 7 p.m. titled "Moider on the South Side."

Sunday

The Samuel Field Y, located at 58-20 Little Neck Parkway, will hold its Freedom Festival from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. The event will act as a Chanukah celebration and a commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the march on Washington.
