Battle of the Bands, Winter Recess Trips for Kids Highlight Week Ahead in Northeast Queens

Monday

The Samuel Field Y, located at 58-20 Little Neck Parkway, will offer winter recess trips for local youths on Dec. 30 and 31. Monday's activity will be bowling at Syosset Lanes, while Tuesday will include a day of games, rides and laser tag at Fun Zone.

Tuesday

The Attic Bar and Lounge, located at 44-25 Douglaston Parkway, is hosting a New Year's Eve battle of the bands at 8:30 p.m. Eight bands will play in the show. First place will win $200 and a paid Saturday night gig slot, while second place will receive $50 and third will get $30.

Friday

Oakland Little Neck Jewish Center, located at 49-10 Little Neck Parkway, will hold a happy hour and an a capella musical Kabbalat Shabbat at 5:30 p.m. The event will include hors d'oeuvres, singing and dancing.

Saturday

The Bayside Library, located at 214-20 Northern Blvd., is offering homework help at 10 a.m. for children in kindergarten through fourth grade with their school assignments. Space is limited.

Sunday

The Samuel Field Y, located at 58-20 Little Neck Parkway, is hosting a family fun day in the gym from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. It will include indoor gymnastics and family Zumba.
