Patch Pets: Rabbit Rescues, 'Part Deux'

Another look at some fluffy bunnies up for adoption

There are still a few "official" days left to celebrate the Chinese New Year, so we figured why not feature a few more furry bunnies for Patch Pets this week — after all, it is the .

"Gomez and Fawn, are a really a special case... They're a bonded pair, which means they must be adopted together," said Nancy, a volunteer at Little Neck-based Long Island Rabbit Rescue.

Like most humans, the need for companionship is deeply ingrained in rabbits and despite centuries of domestication these pets yearn to find a partner, says Nancy.

"Fawn and Gomez are looking for a 'forever' home together, where they can be loved, appreciated, and never have to worry again... They've been through a lot and really deserve it," she said.

But the duo isn’t the only rabbits at the Rabbit Rescue who deserve a 'forever' home.

"Jennifer is a beautiful grey Rex with amazing, long ears and the most velvety coat you can imagine!" Nancy said. "She's young, spunky, and loves to be petted."

Already vet checked, spayed, and litter trained Jennifer is ready to go home.

"She's just so sweet and loving," Nancy said.

Another sweet, but sassy pick — that is, according to the volunteers at the Long Island Rabbit Rescue — is Kimba.

"He's a little 'lion-head' who's very opinionated... What he lacks in size, he more than makes up for in personality," Nancy said.

And like any lion, Kimba looks to be in charge.

"He's king of the jungle... If you rearrange his toys without permission, he'll make little grumbling noises and tries setting things right again," Nancy said.
