Garden Club Will Host Wreath Making Workshop on Nov. 6

The free event will be held at the neighborhood's green market near the LIRR station.

The Douglaston Garden Club will host a holiday wreath-designing workshop this Sunday at the community’s greenmarket.

The free workshop will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Nov. 6 at the greenmarket, which is operated in the traffic circle of Douglaston’s Long Island Rail Road station.

Douglas Montgomery, president of the club, said the group would likely raffle off the finished wreaths.

“It’s an effort at community outreach and to let the community know what we are up to,” Montgomery said of the workshop.

The garden club is responsible for the upkeep of , which is located along Douglaston Parkway at 240th Street and 42nd Avenue, as well as the first three islands of Alameda Mall.

Montgomery said the club recently planted 1,500 daffodil and tulip bulbs as well as trimmed and weeded the park.
