Fairway Market Will Match Donations to Families Affected by Tornadoes

Customers can give cash donations or donate water to victims of the storms in the Midwest and South.

Douglaston’s will offer its customers an opportunity to donate money to families affected by tornadoes in the Midwest and South during the past week.

On March 9 through March 17, the market will accept cash donations of $1, $3 or $5 or a case of water to assist those affected by the tornadoes.

Fairway will match up to $25,000, which will be used to send a truckload of water, canned goods and other non-perishable items to distribution centers in Alabama, Kentucky, Georgia, Tennessee, Indiana, Ohio, West Virginia, North Carolina, Illinois, Nebraska and Missouri.

“We take great pride in the fact that social responsibility is in our very DNA as a company,” said Charles Santoro, Fairway’s chairman. “We’re honored to bring hope to the people in small communities across the Midwest and parts of the South who are in such great need at this time.”

All nine of Fairway’s stores in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut will take part in the initiative.
