Braunstein Will Hold Blood Drive on April 2
Those interested in giving blood should show up at Bayside's LIRR station.
State Assemblyman Edward Braunstein, D-Bayside, is sponsoring a blood drive next month at Bayside’s Long Island Rail Road station.
Participants will receive a voucher for a free slice of pizza at Pete’s Pizzeria and Restaurant, located at 39-26 Bell Blvd. in Bayside.
The drive, which is being held in conjunction with the New York Blood Center, will take place from 2:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the LIRR station, which is located at the corner of Bell Boulevard and 41st Avenue.

“Every donation helps to save up to three lives,” the assemblyman said. “Our hospitals are in need of help, so I hope [residents] will take the time to share this lifesaving gift.”
To give blood, attendees must bring photo identification and should weight at least 110 pounds.

The drive is meant for participants between the ages of 16 and 75 years. But 16-year-olds must have parental permission and seniors over the age of 76 years must have a doctor’s note.
Those interested in giving blood should eat well and drink plenty of fluids before donating.
