Mosquito Spraying Wednesday in Bayside, Douglaston, Little Neck

The Department of Health will be conducting mosquito spraying in Bayside, Douglaston and Little Neck Wednesday, July 24 starting at 8:30 p.m.

The spraying will be conducted overnight, and is scheduled to last until 6 a.m. Thursday morning. 

The area that will be sprayed includes Little Neck, Bayside, Douglaston, Glen Oaks and Oakland Gardens. Boundaries are "Little Neck Bay and 39th Avenue to the north, Bell Boulevard, Long Island Expressway, Cloverdale Boulevard, 73rd Avenue and Springfield Boulevard to the west; 76th Avenue, 263rd Street and Union Turnpike to the south; and Nassau County border to the east," according to the DOH.

The Department of health is using a synthetic pesticide that has no impact on human health, though residents wishing to avoid exposure should follow these guidelines:

  • Set air conditioner vents to the closed position.
  • Remove children's toys, equipment and clothes from outdoor areas.
  • People with asthma should stay indoors during spraying. 

In the event of rain, the spraying will be pushed back 24 hours.
