USTA Billie Jean King Center Reopens to Public

The USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center reopened this weekend after having been closed to the public for several weeks for the U.S. Open tournament.

The center, which is located in Flushing Meadows Corona Park, opened its doors to the public on Saturday and fall tennis programs are scheduled to begin on Sept. 22

Free tennis evaluations will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. for juniors and 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. for adults on Sept. 17, 18 and 19 to assess players’ skills.

And, this fall, the tennis center is debuting its Feed the Feeder program, which is an elite-level training program for ages 10 years and under. Attendees should already be participating in USTA tournaments.

Tryouts, which will last 30 to 40 minutes, will be held from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sept. 17, 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Sept. 18 and 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Sept. 19.

Players should expect a combination of on-court hitting, agility and coordination drills and a short questionnaire.

Results of the tryout will be sent to parents within 10 days.
