Olympic Medalist to Offer Free Tennis Clinic for Girls at Cunningham Park

Class on Nov. 2 will include training tips and drills.

Former Olympic silver medalist Tim Mayotte will host an upcoming free winter training clinic for girls at Cunningham Park.

Mayotte, who is the director of the Mayotte Hurst Tennis Academy and a former top 10 ATP tour player, will teach the clinic from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Nov. 2 at the Oakland Gardens park.

The clinic is free and open to girls between the ages of 11 and 17 years who have played middle school or high school tennis this fall.

The class will include personalized training tips as well as on and off-court winter training drills.

Players are encouraged to wear their school tennis shirts for admission. Parents and coaches are also invited to attend the event.

“We applaud the thousands of young ladies who are competing for their schools and want to celebrate their success and help them improve,” said Mayotte, a Wimbledon and Australian Open semifinalist who reached as high as number seven in the world in 1988 during the Olympic Games in Seoul.
