Nets Take on Knicks at Preseason Game on Long Island

The game will be the last before the two teams meet up again at the Barclays Center for their season opener.

Tickets for the Brooklyn Nets’ Oct. 24 preseason game against the New York Knicks at the Nassau Coliseum on Long Island will go on sale Friday at noon, say team officials.

The Nets, who played their home games at the Nassau Coliseum from 1972 to 1977, will be the host team for this game.

The game will be the last preseason matchup before their inaugural season at Barclays Center starts on Nov. 1, where they will again go up against the Knicks.

Other preseason games, held at the Barclays Center, include:

Monday, October 15 vs. Washington

Thursday, October 18 vs. Boston

Friday, October 19 vs. Philadelphia

To purchase Nets-Knicks preseason tickets, visit brooklynnets.com. Prices start at $10.

For hockey fans, the New York Islanders – whose home base is the Nassau Coliseum – will play a preseason game against the New Jersey Devils on Oct. 2 at the Barclays Center. Tickets for that game are still on sale.

The local, fresh fruit and vegetable market was a worthwhile addition to Douglaston. Obviously, itRead More did not receive the support of the community, at least not enough to make it a successful venture. This is sad. Every Sunday, rain or shine, I would stop at the market and purchase something. My favorite was the bakery stand. Often, when I stopped in the afternoon I would get two FREE French breads with my purchase. Parking was never a problem. The vendors where friendly and very informative. It was a perfect setting for the picturesque nature of this community. Too bad it is not returning.

Unfortunately, according to the Douglas Manor Association, the fresh fruit and vegetable market willRead More NOT return this year. No specific reason was given other than this was at the initiative of the merchants or the market's organizers. And this..., just as we were beginning to enjoy the Long Island wines and the $34 per pound skirt steak, ordered two months in advance.
