Local Bar With Divided Loyalties

Three bar owners, two teams, one playoff game

A house divided against itself cannot stand—unless that house is an ale house.

Jets vs. Steelers factionalism has localized itself to one bar, on Bell Blvd.

Local is owned by three born and raised Bayside guys, hence the name. But since part owners Carrie O’Connor and Javier Lorenzo are Jets fans, and third partner Christian Rodriguez promises to put up a Steelers banner in the bar, they’re thinking of dividing the place into two sections—for safety’s sake.

“The Steelers are a great team. They’ve been a great team for a long time,” said Rodriguez, in explanation of his somewhat un-local ties to the Pittsburgh team.

The three guys were supposed to drive to the big game today, but anticipate that the bar is going to be ‘too crazy’ filled with customers to leave behind.

Rodriguez seems to be holding his ground OK, in what he says is a mostly Jets crowd.  He says he’s looking forward to rubbing his team’s win in the Jets fans faces.
