Local bar with divided loyalties unites for one team

The dual loyalties of a local bar were put to rest by last month’s Jets vs. Steelers playoff game.

 “No more Jets bar,” said Rodriguez. “I turned it into a Steelers bar.”

Local last month stood the trial of factionalism among its three owners. While Rodriguez is a lifelong Steelers fan, and was rooting for them before their fateful playoff game with the New York Jets, the two other Local owners, his friends Cary O’Connor and Javier Lorenzo were cheering the Jets.

The New York team lost in a 24-19, sending the Steelers to face the Green Bay Packers at 6 p.m. on Sunday in Dallas.

O’Connor and Lorenzo weren’t sore losers. “What’re they gonna say?” said Rodriguez. “They’re cheering for the Steelers.”

“I gotta go for AFC,” explained O’Connor, adding “We’re a Jets bar, but we have a lot of Steelers fans in here.”
