Cardozo Football Week 8 Preview: Cardozo vs. Alfred E. Smith H.S.

Cardozo travels to the Bronx to face Alfred E. Smith High School on Nov. 14, at 11 a.m.

The Cardozo Judges enter the final game of the junior varsity football season with (7-0) record in their first full year of competition.

The Judges will play in the Bronx this Sunday for an 11 a.m. game against the Warriors of Alfred E. Smith High School. The Warriors will try to spoil the Judges' chance at an and bring their own record up to the .500 mark.

The Judges are expected to allow sophomore quarterback Perry Haskowitz to throw the ball more than he had all season. Haskowitz has thrown for over 200 yards, passed for four touchdowns and rushed for another himself so far in 2010.

"Through my career, I've been known in the past as a throwing coach and I am usually that way, but this year we didn't throw as much because our running back Fabian Bromwell has had such a tremendous year," said .

"Our running game has been so strong this year we haven't had to have a big balance between passing and running," he said.

Haskowitz never played football before he arrived at Cardozo, save for some flag football, but has made up for his inexperience with intelligent and calculated plays. "He's got a real feel for throw and release," said Kaso, adding, "He's got potential if he can get bigger, faster and stronger."

In a 52-0 rout of Information Technology High School in October, he completed two of two passes and threw for 51 yards. In Cardozo's win over Beach Channel/Channel View, Haskowitz completed three of four attempts for a total of 35 yards. He also passed for a two-point conversion after the first touchdown. He also passed for a two-point conversion after the first touchdown.

"He's a very intelligent quarterback, does well in school and we'll probably pass more than any other game of the year this weekend," said Kaso.
