The Daily News reports that David Beckham could have role in Flushing Meadows MLS franchise.

Queens footie fans might be getting more than they bargained for if the anticipated Major League Soccer franchise comes to the borough, according to the New York Daily News.

The paper reported Tuesday that the stage is almost set for Queens to be the home for MLS's 20th franchise. Rumor has it the team could be named for the Cosmos, which took NYC by storm in the 70's with the legendary Pele as its biggest star

The new club could end up with a player of Pele's caliber as well. David Beckham has reportedly been approached to play with the club and act as a team executive.
