Lady Commodores triumph over Vee Bees in game marked by strong defense, breakout performances
The Bayside High girl's varsity basketball team beat out Martin Van Buren, 56-36, in a tough defensive game Tuesday night.
Bayside's Lady Commodore held the high score with 16 points against the opposing Lady Vee Bees.
Commodore came away with 10 herself, and teammate racked up nine points.

"We played very good defense," said Bayside Coach Stephen Piorkowski. "I was just happy I got everybody to play — I had 14 players out there today … they didn't suffer any type of collapse or change of hand because I put my subs in."
"Van Buren's usually very good," Piorkowski said. "They might be having a bad year, they might be having a down game."
