Whiz Kids: David and Amber Osoy

This week's two whiz kids are a brother and sister pair.

  • Whiz Kids Names: David Osoy and Amber Osoy
  • Whiz Kids Ages: 8 years old, 5 years old
  • Whiz Kids Schools: St. Margaret's in Middle Village (both - David is in the 3rd grade, while Amber is in Pre-K)

David:

  • Whiz Kid's Accomplishment: David is an honor roll student, and active in Soccer and Basketball. David also plays the flute. David is an avid reader, and has even gotten reprimanded for reading during class time. David takes pride in school projects, receiving A's in such topics as German Cinema, when studying Germany; the Japanese festival Bon Odori, when studying Japan, and creating an Easter Poster for a contest hosted by the Catholic War Veterans. He also recently participated at his school's Kids Quiz Bowl, at the school Assembly, as well as volunteered to be a Peace Bearer at a recent Family Mass. David is also active in his school's fund-raising efforts, participating in its annual Race for Education and chocolate sale.
  • Whiz Kid's Key to Awesomeness (what made him/her successful?) David's key to awesomeness is his desire to learn. David likes to learn about new things, places and people. The fact that David loves to read and listen to people about new topics adds to his continued success.

Amber:

  • Whiz Kid's Accomplishment: Amber started Pre-K with the ability to recognize and recite all letters of the alphabet, and write and spell her name. Amber goes to full-day pre-K and is active in dance, attending weekly classes of ballet and tap. She is currently in her second year, with one recital already behind her. Amber loves to perform on stage. Amber loves nature and animals. She tries to pet every dog that passes her and is always the first one in a pile of dirt digging for bugs. Along with her love for nature comes her pleasure in planting flowers, which she does with her father. Amber is also great at and loves arts and crafts, completing most of the same projects that her brother is assigned in school. Amber's favorite thing to do when she gets home from school is send mom an email, which she does with very little help from dad. Amber also participated in her school's Race for Education fundraiser, as well as a chocolate sale.

  • Whiz Kid's Key to Awesomeness (what made him/her successful?) Amber's creativity and belief that she can do anything is definitely her key to awesomeness. Amber is not afraid to try anything. Amber, just as with any younger sibling, wants to do everything her older brother does, which also adds to her path to success. She loves books, just like David. The kids get happy and cheer when they hear they're going to the library!
