The deadline for parents to enroll their children in universal pre-kindergarten programs is Oct. 31, city Schools Chancellor Dennis Walcott said.
All children who were born in 2008 and reside in the five boroughs are eligible for universal pre-kindergarten during the 2012 to 2013 school year.
“It is never too early to think about college and career readiness and high quality pre-kindergarten options set our children on that path,” Walcott said.
Currently, there are as many as several thousand seats available at schools across the city.
To find a universal pre-kindergarten program with availability, parents should call 311 or visit the Department of Education’s website.
