Two Northeast Queens Students Honored for Academics

And six other local residents recently received their diplomas.

A student from Little Neck has earned a merit scholarship, while another from Douglaston was placed on his school’s provost’s list.

Additionally, six other students from northeast Queens recently received their diplomas.

Little Neck’s Sharon Moy was awarded a $3,000 merit scholarship to the State University of New York’s Oswego campus. The award recognizes past academic achievement as well as potential for success.

Moy, who attends Millennium High School, will be a member of the freshman class for the fall semester.

Alexa Cohen, of Douglaston, was placed on the provost’s list at Hofstra University after earning a perfect 4.0 grade point average. Cohen is an accounting major.

And a number of local students graduated from Albany’s College of Saint Rose during the school’s recent commencement ceremony.

Xiaowu Xia, a Class of 2013 student from Little Neck, earned a certificate of advanced study from the school.

Bayside students from the college to receive their diplomas from the school include Vinnette Faraci, David Cocheo, Cristina Cotignola, Tanya Sanchez and Susan Bhunut.
