P.S. 98 to Host Chess Camp This Summer

Douglaston school will host an open house for program on May 9.

Douglaston’s P.S. 98 will host a summer chess camp for local children between the ages of 4 and 12 years.  

The camp will be held in collaboration with Saudin Robovic, founder and director of NYChessKids.  

Robovic and NYChessKids President Joseph Shepard will conduct a free introductory chess lesson and host an open house from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. on May 9 at P.S. 98.  

There will also be supervised chess play between children who attend the open house following a lecture on the program.  

Summer 2013 Chess Camp will run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on July 15 to 19 and Aug. 5 to 9. Half-day, early drop off and late pick up options as well as sibling discounts are available.  

The program will be held at P.S. 98, which is located at 40-20 235th St. in Douglaston.  

Parents will pay $325 per week and a $25 registration fee for attendees who are not students at P.S. 98.  

The fee for the camp covers water, snacks, lunches and a free T-shirt. Attendees will be able to play baseball, basketball, soccer and tennis between chess instruction.
