P.S. 203 Celebrates Lunar New Year in Oakland Gardens

Students sing, dance and put on elaborate costumes for annual celebration.

Students from Oakland Gardens' P.S. 203 donned elaborate, brightly-colored costumes, took part in skits, danced and played instruments to ring in the Year of the Horse at the school's annual Lunar New Year celebration on Friday.

The school, located at 53-11 Springfield Blvd., put on several performances of its Lunar New Year show for parents, teachers and local elected officials, including state Sen. Toby Stavisky, D-Whitestone, and state Assemblyman Edward Braunstein, D-Bayside.

Take a look at this slideshow of photos from the event.

I remember when my granddaughter used to take part in those celebrations.

I was in attendance for this incredible extravaganza. Every year that I see it, I am more and more astounded. What an extraordinary annual collaborative undertaking from the faculty, administration, students, parents, and custodial staff of the Oakland Gardens School, PS 203. As always, thank you so much Mrs. Carole Nussbaum for inviting me all these years. With each passing year, this school's annual Lunar New Year celebration grows more and more spectacular! Finally, thank you Mr. Nathan Duke for your fine coverage!
