The Radio Television Digital News Association awarded Shannan Ferry, who previously won the Gracie Award, with its president's scholarship.

A Hofstra University student from Little Neck who previously won the prestigious Gracie Award has now received the Radio Television Digital News Association’s president’s scholarship.

Shannan Ferry, a Little Neck resident who is the station manager at Hofstra’s WRHU-FM, was named the RTDNA’s 2013 president’s scholarship winner.

Ferry had recently received the Gracie Award, which honors women in television, radio and media, in the student radio market category for her work on a segment titled “Female Genital Mutilation: A Victim Speaks Out.”

Ferry said she was proud to have won the RTDNA’s scholarship.

“I’m so honored to receive the president’s scholarship from the Radio Television News Directors Foundation,” she said. “Not only will this prestigious award help me financially, but it will also encourage me to continue pursuing my professional career in media.”

Ferry also previously reported live from the floor of the 2012 Republican National Convention, interviewing politicians, filing audio reports and contributing to live coverage.
