Elder Abuse Awareness Day

Join SNAP to "Blow the Whistle on Elder Abuse".

More than half a million reports of abuse against elderly Americans reach authorities every year, and millions more cases go unreported.

On Friday, June 15th there will be programs and discussions on the topic to inform and empower members.

  • Reader's Theater: Two SNAP members will perform what a conversation could sound like - followed by discussion led by Marie Ellen Galasso, LMSW - Director of Social Services at SNAP. 
  • Josh Rotkin of JASA Queens Legal/Social Work Elder Abuse Program (LEAP) presenting information.
  • SNAP's Case Manager Tara shares a true-life story of triumph over Elder Abuse.
  • Self-Defense Techniques for Seniors presented by an NYPD Officer.

Breakfast begins at 9 am.  Reader's Theater to begin at 10 am.

Join us for lunch (suggested donation $2.50 for seniors age 60+) after the program.
