DOE to Host Open House for District 25 Schools

Event will be held on Oct. 17 at J.H.S. 185 to provide information for parents searching for a middle school for their child.

The city’s Department of Education will hold upcoming open houses to help families choose a middle school for their child.

District 25’s event will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 17 at J.H.S. 185, located at 147-26 25th Drive in Flushing.

The district includes Bayside’s Bell Academy as well as schools in Whitestone and Flushing.

But District 26, which covers Bayside, Little Neck and Douglaston will not hold an open house.

A spokeswoman for Community District Education Council 26 said that the process is not carried out in every district.

Families intending on attending the open houses do not need to RSVP.

Staff and students from the district will provide information and answer questions about various schools during the events.

Information will be available on admissions, including key dates, deadlines and instructions for applying.

Attendees will be able to pick up copies of the Directory of New York City Public Middle Schools 2013-2014.

Interpretation services will be available at the fairs.
