DOE Rates Northeast Queens Schools in Annual Progress Report

A total 10 local schools get an 'A,' while nine receive a 'B' and one is given a 'C.'

The city’s Department of Education has released its annual report card and progress reports on schools across the five boroughs, giving 10 of northeast Queens’ schools an ‘A’ grade, nine others a ‘B’ and one a ‘C.’

Schools Chancellor Dennis Walcott released the seventh annual progress reports for more than 1,600 citywide elementary, middle and high school schools on Wednesday.

The report awarded letter grades based on student progress as well as a progress score percentage for each school.

Consult the chart below to see how local elementary and middle schools performed on the report card.

The report graded each school based on progress, performance and attendance as well as surveys of parents, students and teachers.

The high school progress report also measured the extent to which schools are preparing their students for college and the workforce.

This year’s high school reports found that more students are graduating from high school ready for college and careers and that more students are enrolling in higher education.

“The most important job of our schools is ensuring students are on track to succeed in college and their careers,” Walcott said. “These results are further evidence that the hard work of our teachers and principals is paying off.”
