District 26 Schools Receive Top Grade in Schools Progress Report

Douglaston's P.S. 98 gets a 'B' grade, while the district overall gets an 'A.'

Douglaston’s received an overall ‘B’ grade in the city’s latest progress reports for schools across the five boroughs.

The school was given an ‘A’ by the city’s Department of Education for student performance on 2011 state tests in English and Math and a ‘B’ for school environment.

The school also received ‘B’ grades for student progress and closing the achievement gap, which is measured by gains for students with disabilities and English Language Learners.

Queens school District 26 received an overall ‘A’ grade. The district covers Douglaston, Little Neck and Bayside.

A total 1,219 city schools with students in kindergarten through eighth grade were included in the report cards.

“By acknowledging progress in schools that help struggling students, we can keep more students on track during elementary and middle school,” Schools Chancellor Dennis Walcott said of the progress reports.
