De Blasio to Get Rid of School Letter Grades

Mayor-elect said he would still release annual progress reports, but without the 'A' through 'F' letter grade.

But Mayor Michael Bloomberg said he believed the incoming mayor’s decision was a mistake.

De Blasio said he would get rid of the controversial 'A' through 'F' rating system for city schools once he takes office.

“You have to give people information in the context that they can use it and at a level that they can understand,” Bloomberg told NY 1.

Schools Chancellor Dennis Walcott released this year’s progress reports on Wednesday.

In this year’s report, 10 northeast Queens schools were given an ‘A’ rating, while nine others received a ‘B’ and one got a 'C.'
