CDEC 26 to Discuss Kindergarten Application Process During Dec. 19 Meeting

Group will discuss new enrollment process for kindergarten students and their families.

Community District Education Council 26 will discuss a new kindergarten application process during its December meeting.

The council, which covers northeast Queens schools, will meet on Dec. 19 at 7 p.m. in room B44A at M.S. 67, located at 51-60 Marathon Parkway in Little Neck.

Representatives from Kindergarten Connect will discuss a new application process that begins for kindergarten students in January.

Under the new process, families will be able to submit their applications online, over the phone or in person at an enrollment office, rather than visiting each school of interest in person during the school day.

This change of process is aimed at making enrollment easier for parents and school staff and does not impact zoning or admissions policies for any school.

City schools will be closed from Dec. 23 through Jan. 1.

CDEC 26’s next meeting will take place at Martin Van Buren High School on Jan. 30.
