Community District Education Council 26 has a vacancy on its board for a parent of an English language learner student.

Also, the board is seeking a parent of an Individualized Education Program child to sit on the board.

CDEC 26 members are responsible for promoting the achievement of educational standards in the district, holding quarterly meetings with Parent Association and Parent Teacher Association officers, providing assistance to school leadership teams, playing a role in evaluating the community superintendent and approving zoning lines submitted by the superintendent.

The council covers schools in Bayside, Douglaston, Little Neck, Queens Village, Auburndale and a portion of Flushing.
