Bayside Student Receives $17K Scholarship

Ronald McDonald House awards recent Cardozo graduate with scholarship funds.

A recent Bayside high school graduate has been awarded $17,000 in scholarship money from the Ronald McDonald House to attend college this fall.

Milana Larin, a Bayside resident who recently graduated from Benjamin N. Cardozo High School, was selected out of thousands of prospective students to receive the scholarship.

This fall, she will attend Barnard College and study economics. She intends to eventually start her own nonprofits.

“Milana’s passion for giving back to her community truly makes her a standout student all around and she is extremely deserving of this award,” said Christopher Perry, executive director of Ronald McDonald House Charities New York Tri-State Area. “Coupled with her ambitious goals and aspirations, Milana has a bright future ahead of her at Barnard College and beyond.”

Larin, who received $17,000 in scholarship funds, was a four-year starter for Cardozo’s varsity girls lacrosse team and founded the first New York City girls tournament team in conjunction with nonprofit lacrosse organization CityLax.

She was also a member of the National Honor Society and helped tutor other students at her school.

The Ronald McDonald House rewards scholarships based on demonstrated academic achievement, financial need and community involvement.
