Weprin To Introduce District Budgeting Program During Two Meetings This Month

Attendees will be able to come up with ideas, create proposals, vote on them and designate funding for the community.

Councilman Mark Weprin, D-Oakland Gardens, will host two upcoming meetings during which he will introduce a program to allow northeast Queens to determine how city funds are spent.

At the meetings, Weprin will discuss participatory budgeting, which will allow residents to exchange ideas and work together to create proposals and, eventually, vote on which proposals should be funded.

Weprin said the program will enable local residents to designate $1 million in resources for the community.
