Weprin Sets Public Budgeting Meeting Thursday

Residents will learn how to propose projects that could be funded in the city's 2014 budget.

Councilman Mark Weprin, D-Oakland Gardens, will host a meeting on July 25 to discuss participatory budgeting proposals for 2014.

During the participatory budgeting process, residents come up with upgrade projects for the district, volunteer as budget delegates on committees that turn the projects into proposals and, eventually, vote on how to spend $1 million of the city's budget on the projects.

On Thursday, Weprin will hold an information session on the participatory budgeting process for the 2014 New York City budget. The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. at the Queens Count Farm Museum, located at 73-50 Little Neck Parkway.

The meeting is for residents of the 23rd City Council District.
