Weprin to Host Council Member for a Day Contest

Winner of annual essay contest will travel to City Hall and take part in an interview with a reporter.

Councilman Mark Weprin, D-Oakland Gardens, is hosting his annual Council Member for a Day contest for students in grades five through eight.

The contest's winner will be able to travel to City Hall accompanied by a parent or guardian, meet with other City Council members, sit for an interview with a reporter and review constituent concerns.

Students interested in participating should write a composition of no more than 500 words on the topic "Why I Love Queens County."

In the piece, the student should describe places in the borough they have visited as well as foods they have sampled or anything else they love about Queens.

Eacy entry should include the student's full name, address, telephone number, school, grade and class. Entries should be submitted by Jan. 18 to the councilman's office, which is located at 73-03 Bell Blvd., Oakland Gardens, NY 11364 or emailed to MWeprin@council.nyc.gov.
