Weprin Has Highest Attendance Record Among Queens Delegation

Councilman Made It to 99 Percent of Legislative Meetings Last Year, Ranking Him Second In City

Councilman Mark Weprin, D-Oakland Gardens, now holds the bragging rights as the Queens City Council member with the best attendance record.

Weprin’s district covers sections of Douglaston and Little Neck as well as Hollis Hills, Queens Village, Bayside, Bellerose, Floral Park, Glen Oaks, New Hyde Park, Hollis, Fresh Meadows and Oakland Gardens.

“I take very seriously my responsibility of representing the residents of Eastern Queens,” Weprin said.

The councilman attended 114 out of the 115 committee and legislative meetings held in 2010. His 99 percent attendance record is highest among all Council members, except one.

“The speaker has a 100 percent attendance record,” a spokeswoman for Council Speaker Christine Quinn, D-Manhattan, said.

AM New York released the names last week of Council members with the highest attendance records, including Weprin, Ydanis Rodriguez, D-Manhattan, David Greenfield, D-Brooklyn, and Deborah Rose, D-Staten Island.

Helen Foster, D-Bronx, had the lowest attendance with 61.7 percent, while a number of Council members were under 80 percent, such as Vincent Gentile, D-Brooklyn, Charles Barron, D-Brooklyn, and James Gennaro, D-Fresh Meadows, according to AM New York.
