Vallone Endorsed by Cuomo, City's Largest Union in Race for Halloran's Seat

The governor and 1199 SEIU back Flushing attorney in City Council race.

Democrat Paul Vallone picked up the endorsement of the governor and the city’s largest union in his bid for Councilman Dan Halloran’s seat.

Vallone, who will face off against Republican Dennis Saffran in the Nov. 5 general election, received the nod this week from Gov. Andrew Cuomo and 1199 SEIU United Healthcare Workers East.

“The middle class families in northeast Queens deserve a Council member they can be proud of and one who can be counted on to represent their values, deliver their fair share and lead by example,” Cuomo said. “In my mind, there is no question that Paul Vallone is the right man for the job.”

“Paul is a proven community leader who will fight for quality care and good jobs for working people,” said Kevin Finnegan, political director of the union.
