Two Candidate Forums for Halloran's Seat Set for August

Bay Terrace Community Alliance and Minkwon Center for Community Action to hold forums this month.

Northeast Queens residents will have two opportunities this month to hear from the candidates in the race for Councilman Dan Halloran’s seat.

The Bay Terrace Community Alliance will host its candidates forum at 7 p.m. on Aug. 27 at the Bay Terrace Jewish Center, located at 13-00 209th St.

All candidates for Halloran’s seat as well as those making a bid in the races for mayor, comptroller and public advocate have been invited.

And the Minkwon Center for Community Action will hold its forum on Aug. 14.

It will begin at 7 p.m. at Flushing’s Temple Beth Sholom, located at 171-39 Northern Blvd.

Candidates in the race for Halloran’s seat include former Halloran chief of staff Chrissy Voskerichian, Flushing attorney Paul Vallone, long-time community activist, Douglaston attorney Dennis Saffran, former state Assemblyman John Duane and Austin Shafran, formerly of Empire State Development.

The 19th Council district covers Bayside, Douglaston, Little Neck, College Point, Flushing, Auburndale and Whitestone.
