Turner May Next Run for Northeast Queens Seat

If the 9th District is lost to adjust for Census findings, newly sworn in Rep. Bob Turner will look East for a seat.

Just , no horses are being held by Rep. Bob Turner.

Speaking about his next election run, Turner told the Daily News that he may take on Rep. Gary Ackerman, D-Bayside, for his seat if the 9th District was a casualty to redistricting.

Ackerman’s district was the shortest toss from redistricting for many Democrats, reports the New York Times, before Anthony Weiner was his seat over a Twitter sexting scandal. Now the 9th District is looking ripe for grafting to other districts.

"It may get carved up in a number of different ways, but I intend to fight in '12," Turner told the Daily News.

Laying his cards upside on the table, Turner added, "If it is reconfigured with one less district, maybe I'll be running against Mr. Ackerman."

Turner’s former rival, Assemblyman David Weprin, D-Little Neck, (though less than for) for not living in the 9th District. It’ll be interesting to see if and how Turner will overcome the same.
