Turner Doesn't Expect To Keep Bayside Hills

Rep. Bob Turner said that he will probably run for re-election this year, but the voters of Bayside Hills are not likely to see him on the ballot.

Turner's oddly shaped district currently snakes up and east from Brooklyn and the Rockaways through Central Queens, reaching its Northeastern most point at the corner of 48th Avenue and Springfield Blvd in Bayside Hills.

But that may change, to compensate for Census results which in the last 10 years.

“...I expect that with the redistricting, you’re not going to see me around here,” the Republican congressman, said at a Community Board 11 meeting on Tuesday evening.

Turner had that if the district he represents, the 9th Congressional District, is to be carved up and divided amongst surrounding districts, that he would take on Rep. Gary Ackerman, D-Bayside, for his job representing New York's 5th District. 

Turner's Queens office is located in Middle Village. He was voted into office in 2011 in the special election to replace .
