Traffic and Trees Top Westmoreland Association's Agenda

Monday night's meeting will cover two important topics to Little Neck residents.

The Wesmoreland Association will hold its quarterly meeting this evening, with two notable topics on the agenda.

Maura McCarthy, borough commissioner for the city's Department of Transportation, will be on hand to address the many resident concerns associated with . Complaints focus mainly on the narrowness of the lanes and the risky driving maneuvers the newly-installed median seems to encourage.

Also on the agenda are the neighborhood's trees, which add a bucolic air to the city's otherwise concrete-heavy streetscapes. Tragically though, many such trees were damaged in this year's barrage of bad weather.

The good news is the city will gladly plant a tree along your sidewalk free of charge. Just go to MillionTreesNYC and click "I'm Planting" to do your part to beautify your street. Damaged or diseased trees can also be removed cost-free, though healthy trees must remain where they are.

The Westmoreland Association will meet at 8 p.m. at the Community Church of Little Neck, located at 46-16 Little Neck Pkwy.
