The city's snow drought may be coming to an end.
With the first measurable snowfall forecast Thursday night into Friday, the Department of Sanitation issued a rare——"snow alert" for the five boroughs.
The alert will begin at 6 p.m. To prepare for inclement weather, workers will conduct equipment readiness tests, load salt spreaders and install tire chains, according to DSNY.
Snow is also forecast for Saturday, with as much as 1 to 3 inches possible.
