Report: Several Eyeing Halloran's Seat

State Committeeman Matt Silverstein has registered a campaign committee.

The race is in 2013, but some possible contenders are already warming up. City Hall Reports:

Meanwhile, northeast Queens state committeeman , the former president of both the New York and Queens Young Democrats, took a step towards joining the fray to take on Republican Councilman Dan Halloran in 2013. Silverstein registered a campaign committee this week and may face off against several 2009 contenders for the seat, including Paul Vallone and Jerry Iannece. Silverstein said in an email he was simply keeping his “options open.”

In what Halloran spokesman Steven Stites called "a political stunt by an ambitious politician,” Silverstein requested in July that a probe be launched against Halloran by the Department of Investigation, City Hall reported.

In a letter he sent to the DOI and Queens DA Richard Brown, Silverstein wrote that Halloran "may have misled the public and investigators," in the wake of the December 2010 blizzard. The DOI found as Halloran—and many others in the outer-boroughs—had alleged.
